Dr Kilungu is an Agricultural Economist specialized in Farm Management, Production Economics, Agricultural Extension, Agricultural Policy, Agricultural Marketing and Project Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation.
He has worked with USAID Kenya for the last 13 years, overseeing funding for agricultural policy research, formulation and advocacy, and implementation of productivity, markets and trade and business development activities and agricultural development in general through working with development partners and Government of Kenya (GOK) as a certified Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR), Agreement Officer’s Representative (AOR), and Activity Manager for agencies including: Tegemeo Institute/Egerton University; ACDI VOCA, Land O’ Lakes, STAK, KARI, KEPHIS, and GOK Agricultural Sector Ministries coordinated through the Agricultural Sector Coordination Unit (ASCU). The programs include: the Kenya Maize Development Program (KMDP), Tegemeo Agricultural Monitoring Policy Analysis and Research (TAPRA), Kenya Dairy Sector Competitive Program (KDSCP), Kenya Horticultural Competitiveness Project (KHCP), Kenya Agricultural Value Chain Enterprises Project (KAVES) and backstopping various programs on policy, markets and trade.
He has 15 years of teaching experience at University level (University of Nairobi – College of Agricultural & Vet. Sciences) for both under graduate and graduate students; and has done a lot of consultancy work for both local and international organizations including: GOK, GTZ, USAID, FAO, World Bank, Sida/RELMA, ETC East Africa among others.
He is currently a Senior Lecturer South Eastern Kenya University (SEKU) from January, 2015 to Date.
