Monsanto provided funding to AGMARK to support Agrodealer development as part of its support for the SAGCOT program. The project was implemented in Tanzania (Morogoro, Ilula/Kilola, Songea, Mbeya Town, Rukwa/Sumbawanga, Katavi/Mpanda, Chunya, Tunduru/Mbozi, Kilombero) from June 2013 – December 2015. AGMARK worked with BRiTEN, a local organization in Tanzania.

Goal

To support smallholder farmers access to inputs and market for surplus produce through a program designed to support Agrodealers to provide input and output services to smallholder farmers.

Objective

Build Agrodealer capacity to reach smallholder farmers with appropriate farming inputs and technologies

Activities

  • Trained Agrodealers on Basic Business management, Output marketing, technical knowledge on seed and fertilizer.
  • Trained Hub Agrodealers on Advance business management.
  • Facilitated Business and trade linkage meetings between Hub and Rural Agrodealers.
  • Established Demonstration plots.
  • Conducted Field days.
